My Philosophy As A Financial Planner & Educator
Money is more than math. It’s emotional. It’s generational. It’s tied to our identity, our upbringing, and our ambitions.
Financial planning should reflect all of that — not just what’s in your account.
When people hear ‘financial planner,’ they assume you need $500K in assets. I care more if you’ve even got $500 saved for an emergency.
That’s why I don’t offer one-size-fits-all advice. I blend my industry knowledge with real-life strategy to help clients:
Understand their money — not just track it
Build budgets that align with how they live and earn
Use income as a tool for options, not just obligations
Make confident, informed decisions rooted in their values
Whether you’re working a single income, rebuilding after a job loss, or trying to finally see your savings grow — I’m here to guide you through it.
Why Work With Me
Having worked inside banks and financial firms, I know how the system works — and where it often fails everyday people. My marketing and strategy experience led to campaigns generating over $2 billion in revenue, skills I now use to build clear, intentional financial plans that work.
I’m also a recognized thought leader and speaker, featured in Bloomberg, USA Today, Fast Company, Ellevest, and more. I’ve partnered with organizations like Public Invest, Commonwealth, and spoken at The National Urban League Conference, Facebook, and fintech events. Named a LinkedIn Top Voice and a proud member of ForbesBLK, I bring both credibility and real talk to finance.
Let’s Work Together
If you want a financial planner who truly understands the system, your story, and how to make money work for you — I’m here.

I didn’t enter financial planning because it sounded trendy. I stepped into this work after living the financial gaps too many people quietly carry — and after spending years inside the very systems that often fail to speak to them.
With over a decade working in Financial Services, I saw firsthand how disconnected traditional money advice can be from the lives of real people. From retail banking to working in marketing for major financial institutions, I was behind the scenes crafting campaigns, reading the fine print, and seeing how products were positioned — and who they often left behind.
It was clear: people didn’t just need access to products. They needed guidance, context, and a roadmap that met them where they are.
That’s what led me to relaunch The Brands + Bands Strategy Group in 2016 — after first founding it in 2009 following a layoff during the recession. The second layoff, a few years later, forced me to drain my small retirement account just to stay afloat. That personal moment — and my professional background — showed me that people need more than advice from a spreadsheet. They need human-centered support.
